Salesforce Acquires Cresta: AI Voice Agents Are Coming to Service Cloud

Service Client

On November 2, 2026, Salesforce announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, a U.S. vendor describing itself as a "voice-first operating system for customer experience." Per the official announcement (salesforce.com/news), financial terms of the deal are not disclosed. It's Salesforce's sixth acquisition signed since mid-September 2026, after Fin/Intercom, Listen Labs, Loops, Braze, and Rune Technologies (October 29) — an external-growth pace that isn't slowing down.

What Cresta Actually Does

Per the announcement, Cresta's platform covers two distinct use cases in a contact center: AI voice agents that resolve complex customer calls end to end, holding a real-time conversation and handling interruptions; and a supervision layer that guides human representatives in real time during a call and analyzes every interaction to coach them. Cresta states it tests and improves its voice agents against the same quality bar as the humans they assist or replace. The announcement names Marriott, Comcast, and Alaska Airlines as reference customers.

  • AI voice agents: end-to-end resolution of complex customer calls, with real-time handling of interruptions
  • Real-time coaching of human representatives during the call
  • Systematic analysis of every interaction (human or AI)
  • Same quality standard applied to AI voice agents and human representatives
  • Reference customers named: Marriott, Comcast, Alaska Airlines

The Stated Integration and Closing Timeline

Salesforce states that Cresta's conversation intelligence and agentic experiences will be integrated into its customer service platform, alongside Service Cloud. Notably, the announcement specifies that after closing, Cresta will keep supporting the contact center and telephony platforms its customers already use today — so no forced migration to Salesforce infrastructure has been announced at this stage. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce's fiscal 2028, subject to customary closing conditions, including required regulatory approvals. Kishan Chetan (EVP and GM, Agentforce and Service Cloud, Salesforce) is quoted: "Cresta has built voice agents that handle complex, high-volume calls for some of the world's largest brands." Ping Wu (CEO of Cresta) talks about realizing the company's vision "at scale" once the deal closes, without citing figures.

What This Actually Means for Your Decision

  • If you're a Cresta customer today: the announcement explicitly states your current telephony/contact-center integrations will keep being supported after closing — no migration has been announced for now.
  • If you're a Salesforce Service Cloud customer: no general-availability date or pricing for the Cresta voice-agent integration has been published; closing itself isn't expected before Salesforce's fiscal Q1 2028 (early 2027 at the earliest).
  • If you're evaluating an AI voice solution for your contact center independently of Salesforce: the acquisition changes nothing about the Cresta product today, but it's a factor to weigh for a 2027 horizon.
  • The acquisition pace (6 deals in under two months, from Fin to Cresta) confirms a deliberate external-growth strategy in conversational AI and customer service — worth watching for pricing consolidation effects once these deals close.
